Fashion Finds under $20

April 10, 2009

Looking Great, Feeling Great, and Living Life within the “budget” also applies to how we dress

Are your clothes older than your children? Do you know when you bought that sweater in high school? Why is it the we spend so much time, money, and effort on the appearance of our children but loose ourselves in the process?

The response I always hear is I have no idea how to pick out clothes or I do not have the extra money to get myself clothes. Well we are here to help you rebuild your wardrobe one item at a time for $20.00 or less. When we add a new item each week we will show you how to optimize your items to create amazing looks for less than the cost of a large pizza.

The first item is a blue cotton T-Shirt made by Go International (carried by Target) HERE are some others.
This shirt retails for $19.99. I selected it because of the interesting detailing on the shirt. It can be dressed up or down and it will hide the fact that you might not have abs of steel. The shirt is a super addition to your wardrobe. You must get one that fits. If you get a fitted T-shirt you can wear it in a variety of ways. I would also select a color that is flattering. If you can avoid black or white it will make your wardrobe more interesting. I bought this shirt at Goodwill for $3.50 for a savings of $16.49

The next item I choose was a pair of black Banana Republic walking shorts. They will fall just above the knee. They are wonderful because they can be dressed up or down depending on where you are going. This wardrobe stable can be worn with a blazer or blouse for an evening out. The retail price is $49.00 HERE
I paid just $3.50 also at Goodwill. They even had the tags still attached for a savings of $45.50

The final item that I selected is a shoe by Micheal Kors. They are black with an open toe and a small heel. They are the perfect way to dress up a T-Shirt and Shorts. These shoes will extended the length of your legs and create a leaner appearance. These shoes are a wardrobe staple because every gal needs a pair of heels that is fashionable and comfortable. These shoes retailed for around $100.00. I picked them up at Goodwill for $2.50.

You do not always have to buy new clothes. The best place to find classic items is a thrift store because of the wide selection of designers.

If you are like me you donate hundreds of dollars worth of clothes yearly to Goodwill, Salvation Army, SPCA.. ETC Don’t you think others do the same?

When you grow tired of an item host a clothing swap.

Stay tuned for the weekly fashion Friday Showing you how to turn $20 or less a week into a fantastic wardrobe.
